Welcome to Women's International League for Peace and Freedom

The Women's International League for Peace and Freedom is the oldest women's international peace organization in the world, with over 42 sections covering all continents, an international secretariat based in Geneva and a New York office at the UN plaza focused on strengthening the work of the United Nations WILPF has consultative status with UN ECOSOC, UNCTAD and UNESCO and special consultative relations with FAC, ILO and UNICEF.

WILPF works for the prevention and eradication of war. Since 1915 the organization's mission has been to study and make known the root causes of conflicts and war and to work for a society upon which a durable peace can be built, a society that values economic and social justice, respects all human rights and the rights of every living thing; a society in which every woman and man participates fully in decision-making.
